Mayawati was very pained and angered to the oppression and brutalies against the Dalits in Bihar. Dalits were being butchered and their homes were being razed. Ranbir Sena was carrying out the barbaric campaign against Dalits.
Mayawati demanded ‘President’s Rule’ in Bihar. RJD under Lalu Prasad Yadav was ruling that state. Administration had failed to protect Dalits there. Ranbir Sena had carried out two gruesome acts of mass carnage in Dalit villages the details of which had shocked the entire nation.

Anguished at the persecution of Dalits
She said wherever Dalits, exploited, backwards and minorities were subjected to oppression BSP was duty bound to raise its voice in their defence. Some people argued that dismissal of Lalu Yadav government would indirectly strengthen BJP and RSS. But when RSS and BJP were conspiring to demolish Babri Masjid the Congress government did little to foil their plot. Thus, Congress had indirectly strengthened BJP and RSS. Congress had no right to express fears of the rise of RSS.
Mayawati warned that if tormentation of weaker sections continued, the day is not far when Dalits, backwards, poor and minorities would come together to wage a war against the brutalities they are being subjected to.
Congress, BJP and Third Front don’t really cared for the Dalits and backwards. On January 26, 1950 the constitution of India came into force. Dr. Ambedkar said he had made a constitution in favour of Dalits, backwards and weaker sections but they need to be given power. In 1952 Dr. Ambedkar filed his paper for the candidacy for Lok Sabha reserved seat for Bombay but Congress played a dirty trick. It bought away Dr. Ambedkar’s private secretary and put him up against the former. The result was that Dr. Ambedkar lost. That is how much Congress cares for Dalits. Baba Saheb had advised the Dalits not ever to become even a primary member of Congress.
Those who were beating the drum of secularism had aligned with communal BJP at one time or other for their own convenience.
BSP will not tolerate the massacre of Dalits in whichever state it takes place and whatever party rules there. There could be no compromise on that issue. Bihar needed to be put under President’s Rule to serve as a warning to others.
