Some of the reasons of the rise of Adolf Hitler on the political firmament were as under :
Versai Treaty
This treaty was forced on Germany on 28 June, 1919 in the Paris Peace Meet organised by the Allied Forces specially meant to humiliate Germans and impose back breaking financial penalties on them. It was a foregone conclusion that the vengeful act of Allies will bring to them a terrible backlash which came in the form of the rise of Hitler and his revenge act. Hitler opposed the treaty from the very beginning. The treaty was a naked vendetta of the Allies. France had old scores to settle. In 1871 Prussia had defeated France and annexed its rich territory Alses Lauran into its own land. France had been nursing the grudge for a long time and was waiting for its chance. The First Word War came as its chance.
Germans were insulted and forced to sign the treaty that contained severe conditions and accused it of being responsible for the war.
Hitler used the treaty to arouse the anger of the Germans and project himself as the only hope of his people. The treaty fueled the popularity drive of Hitler. He convinced the youth that Versai Treaty was the bitter fruit of the acts of the ruling traitors and hence it was a stigma on the innocent face of Germany. Hitler know how to use the sentiments of the people for his own benefit and took full advantage of it. His oratory skill made the treaty look like a virtual murder of Germany.
So, the Versai Treaty was the main reason of Hitler’s astonishing success.
The racial tradition
Germans were traditionally race conscious. Germany was the story of three Reichs. The last one was led to its end a racial minded nationalist, Hitler.
Hitler used the racial tradition to the hilt. He added to it his own fantasies and convinced the people of its veracity through his oratory skills
He conjured up a theory that the Germans were the true inheritors of pure Aryan blood, the superior most live among all human races. He made the Germans believe that they were people of super qualities that no other race of earth could match. The Germans were supermen, he claimed. The people believed in his tall talk. He said that the democratic systems were made for the lower level of human species. The superior most race must opt for dictatorship which allowed the best among the rest to reach the top.
All these ideas worked favourably on the German minds because it had the fascinating fairy tale ring. It gave every German the hypothetical reason to believe that he was a superman.
Hitler was the one who was creating dreams for them.
Anti-jewism
Hitler had come to hate Jews. He had learnt that the middle class and the unemployed youth hated Jews who controlled trade, commerce, industry, paying profession and the administration. All the suffering sections blamed Jews for all the evils of Germany. Hitler fanned the fire of hatred against Jews by targetting them for condemnation in his speeches. The positive response from the people made him go all out against the Jews. Somewhere deep down he himself hated Jews psychopathically.
The hate grew so intense that he began to see a traitor in every Jew who was responsible for all the humiliations suffered by the Germany. He declared that he would expel every Jew from Germany to safe- guard the interest of the bonafide Germans. His Jew baiting also made Hitler popular among the sections of the society that despised Jews for causing all their misfortunes. And these sections made up the majority of the German population.
