Duffus, The Tea Tipper

Duffus Mcclutski loves his tea plain and hot. Every day, he drank several cups which caused a rather large mess on his floor. You see; Duffus didn’t have the steadiest hands and he used his stove to boil the water for his tea, not wanting to buy a kettle. He also refused to have anything less than a full cup of tea (though after spilling it on the way he rarely had a full cup). You see he drank his tea out on his porch which was a good 100-ft walk through most of the house, which at the best of times was so cluttered that you could have lost a dozen small children (but that’s another teaser), a large dog, a herd of sheep…Well you get the picture; it was a mess. Despite clutter, Duffus didn’t like tea stains on the floor. So, he changed “one” thing about the preparation of his tea to make sure he would never have to clean up the floor again. He didn’t use a different cup or get an electric kettle, so he could boil the water on the porch or even half fill the cup. He did almost everything the same.
So what was the one thing he changed so that he might not spill his tea?
Solution
He waited until he was on the porch before he put the tea bag in. He still spilled hot water on the way but that evaporated without leaving any mess.
