The 400th birthday of newspapers was celebrated with great fanfare. The World Association of Newspapers stated that year 2005 marks the 400th Anniversary of the first newspaper published in the entire world.
The Gutenburg Museum situated in Meinz, Germany that hold the world’s first printing press declared that the birth certificate of the world’s first newspaper ‘Relation’ proves that it got printed in the year 1605.
Timothy Werding, the director general of World Association of Newspapers (WAN), was first informed by the world’s leading printing museums about the birthday of the newspapers. Timothy was pleased with the evidence and exclaimed with joy that he was indeed happy to know about the 400th birthday of the newspapers.
The Founder of German Newspaper Museum, Martin Welke, said that the publisher of ‘Relation’ was a person called, Johann Carlous, who earned his living in the 17th century by producing hand-written newsletters and thereafter selling them at high prices to the rich subscribers. Johann became weal therewith time and bought a complete printing shop in the year 1604. In the year 1605, he became the publisher of first newspaper, as he took to printing newspapers.
The authorities of Gutenberg Museum had organised a great exhibition to celebrate the 400th birthday of newspapers.
