Every person who wants to live in the civilised society, must possess etiquettes and manners, lest, there shall remain no difference between the wild animal and wild human being. Infact good manners and etiquettes develop the entire personality of the human being and transforms him into a decent and sophisticated personality.
Polished manners makes one a superior personality. For instance, if you visit a marriage party and watch the mannerisms of the people, you would find the difference between superior and inferior personalities.
Say for example, Mr. Y, who doesn’t know the manners shall keep lots of vegetables, salads and sweet dishes in his plate and shall keep on gobbling big bites. This example shows lack of manners and etiquettes. A well mannered person shall not take such a lot of meals in any party. He shall take small amounts of each edible food and chew little by little in small amounts, without making a noise.
A well-mannered person shall eat less with closed mouth infront of others. Even if the person is accustomed of taking good diet at home to keep himself healthy and fit, he shall not do so infront of other people.
Wise people judge the personalities of others through their manners and etiquettes. Here are some good manners and etiquettes, that could develop your personality and make you a superior entity.
❑ Never interfere when two persons are talking with each other. Speak only when your chance comes. If you are not given the chance to speak, then you can start with, “Excuse me, please, Can I say something, if you don’t mind’’ and then explain what do you intend to say.
❑ Don’t force your opinions on others. Listen to others too and convince them if you find them wrong in their outlook towards life but don’t force them to accept your opinions right away.
❑ Don’t keep on gazing at any one person all time. It doesn’t look nice. Keep your eyes away from individuals and look at things and pets instead.
❑ While having lunch with your friends, take care that the food doesn’t spill of the plate. Eat slowly and chew every morsel properly.
❑ While serving cold or hot drinks to others never forget them to place them on the tray, if you don’t have an elegant tray, then you may keep one glass of drink each in a small plate.
❑ Don’t laugh loudly infront of others. Just a decent smile is enough to please others.
❑ Always keep the pitch of your tone low and clear. People don’t like noisy persons. It’s different, if you have to present a show on the stage, there you have to speak loudly, as you have to impress a large number of audience, but be soft infront of your friends and acquaintances.
❑ Don’t find out faults in small children and women all time. Remember, we all are prone to commit mistakes and thus each one of us should correct ourselves before finding faults in others.
There are many men and women, who keep on finding faults in young girls to degrade them before the society. This is not good. Girls should not be ill-treated by others. There are many men and women who get jealous by young girls and treat them shabbily. These are very bad manners.
Only a wild animal keeps on fighting with others for no rhyme or reason. Girls and small children ought not to be exploited. They must be dealt with love and respect and they should not be condemned for their mistakes, but corrected instead and the elderly people must correct their flaws lovingly.
❑ Finally, we must know, what are good manners after all. Infact the real meaning of good manners is to live in the society in a civilised manner, so that other people of the society are not harmed by you in any way.
