India’s population is growing rapidly, because of the illiterate people’s ignorance in worldly matters and lack of the government’s firm measures taken to control the population explosion.
In 2001, India’s population was 1,024 million, that had increased four fold within a few years. The population is rapidly increasing and there is no control on it.
The following measures should be taken by the government and social welfare organisations to control it :
❑ The government and social welfare organisations should send representatives to the slums and villages, in order to give people knowledge about the drastic consequences of the population explosion. They should explain that every child should be brought up in good conditions of life. He should be provided with all necessities of food, shelter, clothes and education.
This is only possible if a man is well-settled. A poor person who can’t provide the basic necessities of life to children should not give birth to them till he accumulates enough money and is able to lead a reasonably comfortable life. The children of the poor people suffer miserably in scorching heat of summers and chilled cold in winters. They are humiliated by cruel people and exploited for vested interests. The children of the poor people lead a miserable life. This knowledge should be given to the poor people. They should be taught about the birth control methods, and should be given some incentives if they follow them.
❑ The condition of the poor people should be uplifted by giving them a small piece of land and some loan with it to make them self-reliant. They should be trained up in their chosen field.
❑ Some schools should be opened up for illiterate people irrespective of their age, caste, colour and creed. These schools should function just like other schools with the difference, that here the students are grown-up people instead of small children.
Illiteracy is indirectly responsible for population explosion. The illiterate people are ignorant of the consequences of hasty steps and doesn’t have sense about the things. Education opens up the dark realms of their mind and thus improve their discretion power.
The best way to stop population explosion is to give knowledge to the rural folks about the consequences of their senseless actions.
When knowledge shall open up their eyes, they shall gain sensibility and would be able to control their desires as well as take precautions to control the birth of the child.
