Dr. A.P.J. (Avul Pakir Jainulabdin) Abdul Kalam is one of the most benevolent Presidents of India.
He was elected as the 11th President of India on July 15, 2002.
He had portrayed tremendous potential in developing the missile technology of India and thus is popularly called, ‘The Missile man of India.’
He was poor by birth, yet he rose up in life because of his inner qualities of head and heart.
This brilliant scientist was born on 15 October, 1931 in a boat maker’s family. From the very childhood, he began to work hard to earn living. He began to sell newspapers and accumulate money to fulfill the necessities of life.
Abdul Kalam completed his schooling from two schools. Initially, he was admitted in Rameshwaram Panchayat Elementary School and thereafter joined Schwartz School at Rameshwaram and completed his Higher Secondary from there.
Later on he did his B.Sc. from St. Josephs College, Tiruchirapalli. After the completion of graduation, Abdul Kalam gained admission in Madras Institute of Technology and completed his Aeronautical Engineering from there.
His extraordinary achievements in missile technology brought him bouquets of love and appreciation nationally and internationally.
He became the most esteemed citizen of India.
In the year 1958, he joined DRDO (Defence Research Development Organisation) as an Assistant Scientist. Thereafter he joined ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation). In ISRO, he was appointed as the project director of SLV 3 project. He attained success in designing the India’s Indigenous Satellite Launch Vehicle. This success brought him tremendous recognition around the nation.
After this great success, he attained another major success in the completion of the mission of ‘Agni Missile’ in the year 1994. Now he became the Superman of Missile technology.
India became one of the nuclear powers of the world, due to the services of this great scientist of India. India salutes this greatman, who has sacrificed his entire life for the development of the country. His focus is on transforming India into a developed nation by 2020.
