A visit to the Post Office

A post office, as everyone knows, is a government undertaking for public service. In the past, the services rendered by a post office used to be a matter of pride. In the present time, people have bitter experiences of a post office. Last week, I went to the post office situated near my place of residence. It is a big and busy place and people are seen coming out and going in the building almost all the time. I wanted to send money to a friend through the money order. I approached the counter where forms are supposed to be available. It was about 10.15 in the morning. The counter was without any person. I had to wait for fifteen minutes before the person in charge of the counter was seen approaching his seat with a cup of tea in his hand. As soon as he occupied his seat at the counter, he lighted a cigarette without caring to attend to the person waiting at the counter. On my asking for a money order form, I was told that the keys of almirah where the forms are kept were not available. I had to wait for another half an hour to get the money order form. After filling the form, I moved to the counter for sending money to my friend. Such experiences at the post office are very common these days.
