Yesterday morning when we were still in our bed, we heard cries in the neighbouring house of Mr Verma. When I came out to find out as to what had happened, I came to know that Mr. Verma’s mother, who was more than eighty years old, had breathed her last in the early hours of the morning. She was bed-ridden for the last fortnight. As the day advanced, many people from the locality started gathering outside the house. After sometime, relatives from far and near started pouring in. A large number of vehicles were parked outside the house of Mr. Verma and the nearby lanes. The deceased lady was very popular in the locality. The funeral procession started at the noon’s time. The dead body was covered with flowers. One good thing was that the lady had died peacefully at her full age. The funeral was carried to the cremation-ground and the pyre was lit by Mr. verma. We prayed for peace to the departed soul.
