Harriet had ordered a special dress to be tailored for her birthday party. The tailor came just before the party and handed over the dress. However, it was too short and too fitted. This made Harriet very angry. The tailor even apologised for his mistake but nothing could be done. Her mother asked her to put on another dress and get ready for the party. But Harriet screamed, “Send everyone back home. I will not have a party!” Then Harriet’s friend Gale arrived. Hearing her voice, Harriet wiped her face and put on another dress. By then, the other guests had also arrived. Harriet then cut the cake and everybody enjoyed playing games. Before going to bed, she thought, ‘I’m glad that I didn’t cancel the party because of my new birthday dress. I unnecessarily made a big issue over my dress. This, in turn, made mother unhappy, too.’ From then on, Harriet learnt to adjust as per circumstances.
